All the event planning came to fruition quite successfully! After fostering some cross-functional partnerships, helping with promotion materials, and signing up as the Fernandina Beach Marina site captain, the whole day came together. Between meeting and getting to know committee partners and event volunteers I can easily say I would work this event all over again next year! To boot, event success is in the numbers:
Following the clean-up volunteers were invited to a one-of-kind appreciation luncheon at White Oak Wildlife Conservation facilities. At this portion of the event I was afforded the chance to represent Wild Amelia's conservation education efforts. I had the chance to connect with local community members and future potential volunteers.
Overall, it's amazing what people can accomplish when they come together!
- 52 Volunteers at our site (46 volunteers on water and 6 volunteers on land)
- Approximately 1,500 Lbs trash collected (No exaggerations!)
